Disney Alphabet – I is for…

It’s a Small World. It’s a song! It’s a ride! It’s a Disney tradition! (Well, except for the year that it was being refurbished during our visit, but we won’t relive that.) I don’t feel like it’s a fully satisfying trip to Disney if I haven’t ridden this ride. I mean what’s not to love? Where else can you stand in line for just a few minutes (sometimes there’s no line at all in October), board a boat where all of your family can fit without arguing about who’s riding with whom (oh, we’ve ALL been there, done that), and enjoy a nice 15-minute AIR CONDITIONED ride on a Disney classic? Yes, it actually is 15 minutes. It gives me time off of my feet to rest and rejuvenate, not to mention the fact that it’s a great ride for the kiddos…a memory that entrenches itself like no other.

It's a Small World Camel

It seems that every time I ride, I see something different. (Was that camel there last year?) It’s an overload of visual nostalgia, and I never know where to look as each room is filled from water level to ceiling with colorful dolls representing the children of the world. My personal favorites are the hula dancers with their swishy hips. Yes, “swishy” is a word.

I also love when the boat is passing under the big pink elephant as it travels through Africa. I can’t help but look up and catch this glimpse of it every time…

What’s your favorite part of the ride?
